The School of Education provides graduate degrees in the area of Education Theory and Practice, Literacy Education Studies, Higher Education, Instructional Design & Technology, and Elementary and Secondary Education. The School of Education prepares students to research, develop and implement innovative educational practices. Students in our academic programs are integrated into the field of education through real-world experiences in diverse settings, such as subject-specific clinics and laboratories, professional development classrooms, and research-based practices.
The School of Education houses several graduate and professional programs. The M.A. with certification program in Elementary and Secondary Education prepares students to teach in K-12 classrooms. Our M.A. literacy education program prepares literacy professionals and certified Reading Specialists to assess and motivate struggling learners. The M.A., Ed.D. and Ph.D. programs in higher education prepare students for positions in colleges and universities as faculty, administrators, and researchers. The Ph.D. in Educational Theory and Practice serves as a source of preparation for students toward careers as higher education faculty, education researchers, policy analysts, and work with other educational organizations (e.g., non-profits). The Master of Arts in Instructional Design and Technology Program is designed for the individual who wants to apply cutting edge instructional technologies and design strategies in business, education, and other educational settings. The Elementary Mathematics Specialist Master of Arts program is designed to prepare currently licensed teachers to be teacher leaders in elementary mathematics, and the M.A. in Digital Technologies and Connected Learning prepares students to employ new technologies and connected learning principles in education settings.
